Rules of the
“National Photography Championship”
2026/2027 edition
organised by the Luxembourg Federation of Artistic Photography
The “National Photography Championship” identifies and rewards the best photographers holding an FLPA licence and belonging to an FLPA-affiliated club, based on their results in national and international photographic salons. It takes into account the results of the salons listed in point 3 for the years 2026 and 2027.
2. Conditions of participation
To take part in the championship, each author must register on the championship platform https://championnatflpa.eu/
Each participant undertakes to submit only images taken no earlier than 2020 (including similar photos and the same shots in monochrome and colour versions). In case of doubt, FLPA reserves the right to request the EXIF file.
Anyone holding an FLPA licence valid for the entire duration of the championship may take part.
3. Salons taken into account
The salons and specific salon sections taken into account for the championship are set out in a list drawn up, updated and published in mid- and late 2026 and in mid-2027. The list includes:
- all national and international salons under FLPA patronage;
- the FIAP biennials announced by FLPA in which it takes part;
- a selection of international salons under FIAP patronage.
You can find the list at this link: https://championnatflpa.eu/docs/liste-concours-pour-le-championnat-2026-2027/
4. Scoring of the salons taken into account (points system)
| Acceptance | Medal/honourable mention/any other award | |
| 1 | +1 |
Each acceptance obtained in a salon or biennial listed in point 3 earns 1 point. Each award granted earns 1 additional point.
(For example: 3 acceptances with 1 award (medal, honourable mention or any other prize) give a total of 3 + 1 = 4 points.)
A maximum of 18 points per salon or circuit will be counted.
(For example: 16 acceptances with 5 awards (medal, honourable mention or any other prize) in one salon or circuit (a group of 3, 4 or 5 salons) do not give 16 + 5 = 21 points, but 18 points.)
In the event of a tie, the author with the most awards will be declared champion.
5. Titles
Three titles are awarded in the senior category:
- “National Photography Champion”;
- 2nd in the “National Photography Championship”; - 3rd in the “National Photography Championship”. One title is awarded in the junior category:
- “National Junior Photography Champion”.
A trophy will be awarded to the senior and junior champions. A medal will be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd placed.
The “National Photography Champion” will be invited to join FLPA's unofficial delegation to the next FIAP congress or to take part in the next FIAP Photo Meeting. Registration fees, including accommodation and any meals included in the official programme, will be covered by FLPA.
Prizes in the form of vouchers will be given to the top 10 in the senior category, provided they have taken part in all the championship salons.
Prizes in the form of vouchers will be given to the top 3 in the junior category, provided they have taken part in at least all the national salons.
Any author who has taken part in all the competitions will have the fees for their next FIAP distinction paid by FLPA.
6. Ranking
After each judging, the ranking will be updated and published on the FLPA website. Participants must send their accepted or award-winning images to the championship manager.
The junior ranking is based on participants' age on the closing date of the first salon counting towards the National Championship, unless the junior informs FLPA in writing, before their first participation, that they wish to compete in the senior category.
7. Roll of honour
The names of the winners of each edition of the championship are listed in the annual activity report and on the FLPA website.
8. Final clause
In any situation not provided for by these rules, the FLPA Board of Directors reserves the right to decide fairly and in good conscience. Its decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
